Dear Miss Udell,

Thank you for giving us your comments on the Hong Kong Dalaries Comission Report. I passed your letter to Dr. Sloss before he left for Hong Kong, and the follo :Lug are his replies to the points raised in your minutes the 16 Oct.

(ઘ)

Our recommendation follows the existing practice in Hong Kong. A change has not yet been sugested by the Medical Department.

(b) If the grades of 11/3 and 8/N/8 are not to be merged, I do not blizit the issue raised can be dealt with except by providing a surficiently large cadre of 5/N/3'3.

(c)

A radiographer is not an X-ray sister but a person trained for and la possession of the specific qualification of radiographer. The salary has been proposed after consideration of the recommendation of the Joint Negotiating Committee in the U.K.

We were informed that the employment of X-ray sisters was to be discontinued.

(d) Neither nurses nor radiographers would under theŝe

recommendation have free quarters.

(e) Assistant Matrons have not normally becn employed in major hospitals: in fact the only
